ARTIST
I have been a freelance director, choreographer and teaching artist for two years, spent the last six years shadowing and assisting mentors and a lifetime asking questions, exploring my taste for storytelling and learning how to curate a rehearsal room and theatrical process. Freshman year of college I was able to assist on a production of In the Red and Brown Water by Tarell Alvin McCraney. It was the first theatrical experience I had been a part of where no creative voice resounded louder than the rest. The directer of the production, Debbie Saivetz, maintained that making a play is akin to cave diving. The director may have the headlamp, but every person that participates in the work is in a state of search and no one can anticipate who's discovery will best serve the world of the play.
"Maybe you're supposed to be a director." -Debbie Saivetz
